Program Overview
The Foundation Program in Fashion Design is an intensive one-year preparatory course designed to develop fundamental fashion design skills and prepare students for advanced diploma or degree programs in fashion. Set in Milan, the global capital of fashion, students are immersed in the creative and commercial aspects of the fashion industry from day one. The program covers fashion illustration, textile knowledge, pattern making, garment construction, and fashion history.
Students have the unique opportunity to visit fashion houses, attend industry events, and learn from guest lecturers who are active professionals in the Milan fashion scene. The program includes visits to textile mills, manufacturing facilities, and fashion archives, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the fashion production process.
Goals, Outcomes & Methods
Develop foundational fashion design skills, creative vision, and technical knowledge, preparing students for advanced studies in fashion or entry-level positions in the fashion industry.
Graduates will create fashion illustrations, develop textile designs, construct basic garments, understand fashion history and trends, and build a fashion design portfolio.
Studio workshops, demonstrations, individual projects, group critiques, industry visits, guest lectures, fashion exhibition visits, and hands-on garment construction sessions.

General Information
The program runs October to July with classes Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. Students have access to sewing workshops, design studios, and the academy's fashion library outside class hours.
